The Peer Helper Assessment Barometer (pHAB) offers a user-friendly way of monitoring and tracking a students’ involvement in peer help or support programmes. It co-involves them in the assessment of their levels of participation and encourages authentic involvement in and meaningful reflection on their growth.
Value Proposition/Benefits
Monitoring peer helper involvement and performance can be a challenge for programme coordinators for a variety of reasons. One challenge is the effective credentialing and reward mechanisms to ensure growth, development and advancement for peer helpers to become well-rounded individuals.
In contrast to conventional systems that provide letters/ certificates of recognition to students, regardless of their level of participation, pHAB has a tiered reward system that stipulates the requirements for recognition at each tier, while ensuring the achievability of goals. The pHAB therefore not only gives recognition to students for their involvement, but also offers a system for rewarding and credentialing their efforts.
