In 2011 Kelly won the ELLE Magazine “Rising Star” competition during her full-time studies. This gave her the confidence and head start needed to start her own brand. Prior to starting KMD in 2013, she went on to win the “Most Creative Emerging Creative” award at the Design Indaba 2012, as well as collaborating with Mr Price and designed a limited-edition female winter collection in 2012.
